Kitchen with a Hint of Cinnamon
The story of this interior began with a simple idea the warmth of home, the aroma of freshly baked cinnamon rolls, and a kitchen where the family enjoys spending time together. This inspired the idea of bringing a cinnamon hue into the interior and using it on the kitchen island, which gradually became both its visual and functional centre.
The entire interior draws from Scandinavian aesthetics, but rather than following a strictly minimalist interpretation, it works with natural materials, soft textures and a warm colour palette. The result is a space that feels simple and timeless, while also being designed around everyday life.
The island became the centre of the space.We made it as large as possible to provide ample workspace and paired it with comfortable upholstered bar stools. It works not only for food preparation, but also for breakfast or a quick conversation. The island’s warm earthy tone brings a stronger accent to an otherwise neutral space while also setting the colour direction for the entire interior. The kitchen was designed in a sophisticated, minimalist combination of wood veneer and a stone worktop, where aesthetic appeal naturally meets durability and everyday practicality. The clean lines and quality materials are interrupted by just one distinctive design detail – the kitchen tap.
We continued with a large wooden dining table,with an emphasis on natural comfort and an informal atmosphere. The upholstered bench creates a place for relaxing, reading or lingering over long conversations. Storage underneath keeps books, games and other everyday items within easy reach. The dining area is complemented by distinctive pieces of Scandinavian design, including the iconic CH24 Wishbone Chairs and a contemporary light fixture by Pholc.

The living area naturally continues from the kitchen and dining space, so we approached the entire open-plan interior as one cohesive whole. The colour palette, wood and other natural materials are repeated throughout the different zones, creating visual continuity. The layout also allowed us to cleverly position the bookcase around the corner near the entrance to the living area, keeping the main living room furniture more open and less visually cluttered.
The TV can be concealed behind sliding panels,which, when closed, create the appearance of continuous wall panelling and reinforce the clean character of the interior. In contrast, the area in front of the fireplace was designed as a dedicated place to relax, centred around a distinctive statement armchair. In the evening, soft light from the wall lamps adds to the setting, while the greenery creates a calmer atmosphere.
The entire space is ultimately brought together by textiles – the sofa, rug and curtains share a related colour palette, helping to visually unify the different zones. The result is a Scandinavian-inspired interior that does not rely on decoration, but on a considered relationship between materials, layout and the way the space is used in everyday life.
