A Compact Cottage with a New Atmosphere and Thoughtful Functionality.
The renovation of this compact holiday cottage was based on a complete transformation of the interior – literally from floor to ceiling. The aim was to completely change the colour palette and create a fresh, light and practical space that fully meets the needs of temporary living. But at the same time offering the comfort that makes you in no hurry to head back home.
The significant change in colour palette extended throughout the interior, creating a new foundation for the materials, furniture and lighting. At the same time, the character of the timber structure remained an important part of the design – the natural texture and warmth of the wood bring a distinctive atmosphere to the space and contribute significantly to its overall sense of comfort.
An important part of the renovation was improving the layout and introducing new built-in elements to make use of every available centimetre.
The entrance zone was designed in the spirit of a mudroom – a practical, dedicated entry area for storing shoes, clothing and outdoor equipment. This layout makes the transition between the interior and exterior easier and more comfortable, which is particularly valuable in this type of recreational property.
In the compact bathroom and kitchen built-in furniture helps keep the space organised while providing essential storage capacity. The kitchen features a mobile island that can be repositioned as needed. In the compact space, it provides additional worktop area while maintaining flexibility and freedom of movement. The kitchen cabinetry flows seamlessly into a multifunctional piece combining a bookcase and sideboard, while also concealing the technical equipment of the built-in air conditioning.
The lighting was also redesigned with greater efficiency and the individual functional zones of the interior in mind.
The result is an interior that goes beyond a visual transformation, making better use of the limited space as well. The cottage has gained a fresher atmosphere, increased storage capacity and practical solutions that support a comfortable and carefree stay.
